Benjamin Tolmie, a Marlborough Sounds-based painter, creates vibrant, hyper-realistic works celebrating people, boats, nature, and place. After a 25-year career in digital and software design, Benjamin returned to his first love: painting.

Since 2022, he has focused on refining his studio practice, producing both commissioned and personal pieces. Inspired by the wild serenity of the Marlborough Sounds, loved ones, and Aotearoa’s cultural and natural heritage, Benjamin infuses his art with meaning and energy.

His striking landscapes and marine paintings showcase his skill, while his passion for portraits highlights his fascination with connection and character. Through vivid colour, light, and extraordinary realism, Benjamin’s goal is to create art that uplifts and inspires, bringing magic to the world.
