The Nelson Suter Art Society
The Nelson Suter Art Society (“the Society”) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting its members. The Society is entirely run by volunteers and committee members. Please keep this in mind when contacting the Society, as there may be a delay in responding to communications.
1. Role of the Society
* The Society acts solely as an intermediary between the artist and the buyer.
* At no point does the Society own the artwork offered for sale through the website.
* The Society does not currently hold the artwork. All artworks remain in the possession of the artist until collection or delivery is arranged.
* The Society provides the online platform to facilitate the sale of artworks and undertakes administrative communication between artists and buyers.
2. Purchasing an Artwork
* When an artwork is purchased through the website, the Society will notify the artist of the sale.
* It is the artist’s responsibility to package the artwork appropriately for delivery or pick-up.
* Buyers will be updated at each stage of the process so they are informed of the status of their purchase.
* Please note that there may be delays in this process due to the volunteer-run nature of the Society and the time required for artists to prepare artworks for collection or shipping.
3. Collection of Artwork
* Artworks purchased for collection will generally be available within **2–3 business days** at the McKee Gallery, located inside The Suter Gallery, 208 Bridge Street, Nelson.
* Buyers will be notified when their purchase is ready for collection.
4. Payment to Artists
* Following the sale of an artwork, the Society will transfer payment to the artist, less the commission percentage as agreed with the artist.
* Payment will be made once the buyer’s transaction has been completed and cleared.
5. Liability
* The Society cannot accept responsibility for delays in communication, packaging, or delivery of artworks, as these remain the responsibility of the artist.
* The Society’s role is limited to facilitating sales, communication, and payment processing.
6. Shipping
* Shipping rates are calculated using NZ Post ‘Send a parcel’ website. Prices are based on courier and signature service.
* Shipping is calculated using weight and dimensions of the artwork, once packaged NZ Post may give a different shipping charge.
* Dimensions and weight of each artwork has been recorded by the artist. The Nelson Art Society can take no responsibility for incorrect information given to us.
* If NZ Post offers a different price then quoted on our website (at the checkout page), the buyer will be notified before the artwork is sent. At this point the buyer can decide whether to continue with the purchase or a full refund can be negotiated.
