Glen Davenport
Sheffield, England
Glen Davenport has been an artist since the 1970s, beginning as a weaver whose work was exhibited and retailed, including at The Suter Gallery with Creative Fibre and the New Zealand Weaving and Woolcraft Society. Twelve years ago, when she had to give up weaving, she discovered pastel art—an inspiring new direction that became both therapy and creative renewal.
Through joining the Nelson branch of the New Zealand Pastel Association, Glen expanded her skills in this ancient medium, gaining knowledge and inspiration from workshops with New Zealand and international artists. Her pastels have since been selected for national exhibitions, and she was recently awarded APANZ (Artist Member of PANZ).
Glen says of her work: "My pastel art has always put me in another space. Nature is my inspiration, sea, mountains, garden, sky, and I am blessed to have it all around me every day. I want to keep what I see. I am always amazed that I can produce a piece of art work which gives me so much pleasure, and that comes first. When I see someone else getting a good feeling from experiencing my work, that is a bonus and it really puts the icing on the cake".
