Karin Gembus moved to Nelson in 2016 after living for 18+ years in the highlands of Bolivia, South America. She has traveled to 39 countries and wouldn't mind fitting in a few more soon.

Her travels and experiences have given her much inspiration and have helped form her palette over the years: from the bright sunshine of coastal California to the red soils and blue, blue skies of Uganda to the ochres of La Paz -- these hues all find their way into her paintings.

Karin uses both acrylics and oils, depending on the pace of the depiction. She loves to study about art and received an arts diploma from Nelson's NMIT in 2022.
