Kerry Fenton-Johns
Christchurch, New Zealand
Kerry Fenton-Johns is a professional painter and teacher based in Motueka, New Zealand. Her interest in art began in childhood and developed through high school before she undertook two years of study at Hagley Community College. She has also benefited greatly from the mentoring and encouragement of New Zealand artist Kees Bruin, whose influence has helped shape her practice.
Working mainly in acrylic and oils, Kerry paints in a realistic style that reflects her love of nature and the landscape. She is particularly drawn to the contrast of light and shadow, as well as the subtle tones and shifting atmospheres found in the natural world. Since 2002 she has pursued a full-time career as an artist, selling works to private collectors and galleries throughout New Zealand and internationally. In 2008 she won the Yellow Art Award, with her painting selected for the cover of the Otago phone book.
