Lynette Cain

Woman carving designs into a large, round ceramic piece with carved patterns, surrounded by colorful butterfly and animal-shaped glass art, in a pottery studio.

Ashburton, New Zealand

Nelson-based cast-glass artist Lynette Cain explores the expressive potential of glass through the lost wax method of glass casting. Embracing the many variables of the process and the hand-finishing involved, Cain embraces the unpredictability of casting, allowing each piece to emerge with its own distinctive qualities and tactile presence.

Her work celebrates the handmade, accentuating surface textures and the individuality that comes from process-driven creation. Her sculptural works reflect on the connections between objects, memory, and identity, inviting viewers to consider how stories and personal histories are held within material form.
