Paul Deacon Exhibition
The yacht ATALANTA destined for an exhibition in Petone October 2025.
Member Paul Deacon has an upcoming exhibition of twelve nautical paintings at the ARTSPACE Gallery, 223 The Esplanade, Petone October 18 - November 16.
The exhibition is in conjunction with the Wellington 2025 Heritage Festival and features a dozen vessels that have a direct historic and recent link to the founding of the city, featuring immigrant ships, yachts, ferries and scows. This is his second solo exhibition at Alfred Memelinks ARTSPACE gallery sited on the Petone seashore.
Paul Deacon is one of New Zealand’s premier marine artists, a fellow of the Australian Society of Marine Artist (F/ASMA) & member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Paul is an ex-NSAS committee member and patron to the Tasman National Art Awards committee.
Select galleries throughout New Zealand feature Paul’s marine paintings, who was an ex seafarer originally from Dartmouth Devon where the sight of visiting 'tall ships' inspired him to specialise in painting a wide variety of vessels, particularly historic sailing ships.
And kudos: Paul has furthermore had several images of his marine paintings accepted for the Australian Society of Marine Artist (ASMA) 30th anniversary book publication. Paul has been a member of this prestigious society for several years and is possibly the only New Zealand member. The ASMA is internationally recognised and devoted to showcasing all realms of maritime associated marine art well beyond that of standard seascapes or sailing ships pictures.
