Welcome to our New Artist Member Vanessa

We are pleased to welcome Vanessa Griffin as a new artist member.

Vanessa is a multidisciplinary artist from Nelson whose practice is informed by observation, experience, and a strong interest in colour and texture. Her work draws inspiration from the local environment and focuses on creating visually engaging compositions suited to both residential and professional spaces.

“I’m interested in using colour and texture to create work that people can live with and enjoy over time,” Vanessa says.

Working primarily with acrylic pouring, textured techniques, and mixed media, Vanessa is particularly interested in the technical processes behind these methods. She views her practice as an ongoing process of experimentation and skill development.

“I enjoy experimenting and learning new techniques,” she explains. “It keeps the work evolving and challenges me creatively.”

Vanessa brings extensive experience across a range of creative industries, including over 30 years in fashion design, shop and window display, more than 20 years in floral design with Floral Art NZ, and seven years directing home staging for real estate marketing and advertising. She returned to painting in 2023, having studied and sold her work earlier in her career.
