Sigi is a Nelson based artist, originally from Austria. Her current work explores themes of human connection and communication. Through layered painterly surfaces, black line work, and pops of bright colour, she creates visual conversations influenced by street art and comic aesthetics.

These works express the challenges of being human - of trying to connect and communicate effectively while each person experiences the world through their own unique filter. Our personal history, memories, and past experiences shape how we see a situation, which can make genuine communication difficult, especially when the other person brings their own distinct lens.

With a background in design, Sigi brings a balance of structure and spontaneity to her mark-making, using visual language to express vulnerability, misunderstanding, and the desire to feel connected.
