Jackie Sherwood

A woman with curly dark hair, wearing a blue jacket and patterned blue scarf, is sitting at a table writing in a notebook. There is a glass of sparkling drink with orange slices and a pink straw on her right. In the background, a young woman is sitting and using a phone in an outdoor cafe setting.

Hastings, New Zealand

Jackie has always been fascinated with natural lines and shapes in the landscape.

She has recently returned to New Zealand after living in Australia and Europe for many years. Jackie currently paints abstract landscapes inspired by the surrounding countryside in the Tasman area. She loves anywhere near the water, particularly the tidal estuaries with their constant ebb and flow, the patterns in the sand and the subtle tones.

Jackie’s work is mostly in acrylic, to which she adds ink, various mixed media and often collage. She also loves plein air sketching and painting and often returns to the studio to tear up her loose outdoor work to reassemble into larger paintings.

Jackie has been painting in various mediums for over 20 years with works sold privately and through galleries in Australia, UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand. She has also participated in exhibitions in a number of countries.
